Boyfriend jeans and kimonos

Kimonos can be worn over a pair of jeans, with shorts, or even over a swim suit in cool evenings at the end of August. Kimonos have become a versatile piece of clothing that can be matched with lively and creative outfits.

It has been stolen from Japanese tradition and re-invented in a Western version. The term kimono literally means “thing to wear”, and it originally designated any sort of clothing. It was used to distinguish Japanese clothing from Western clothing.
Kimonos are t-shaped. This t-shape is obtained by adding rectangular pieces of cloth to each other. Kimonos do not emphasise body shapes. They hide them. Whoever is wearing a kimono must move gracefully, because femininity has absolutely nothing to do with the ostentation of one’s body.

In hopes of buying an original kimono during a future trip to Japan, the land of such fascinating traditions, I am showing you a totally Western kimono matched with boyfriend jeans, a low neckline and Thai bracelets.
