We love fashion because it is frivolous

Why do you like fashion? That’s a good question requiring as usual a well thought out non-answer.
Fashion lovers don’t do this for the need to dress, actually, for some of them to be fashion means to be quite undressed.
Not for the need to be part of a group, be it religious, politic or just a school of thought, or at least not today, when dandy or teddy boys time is quite far away.
It is not even for the need to show our social status to others, given that covering oneself up with brands is clearly the opposite of elegance; you all know that…isn’t it?

In my opinion, fashion has something to do with our longing for lightheartedness together with taking the chance to send messages to ourselves and others without saying a word.

And so, it happens that when we feel the need to look “strong” we wear a jacket, even better of it is an Armani jacket; if we need a “sophisticated” look we bring out our ‘50s vintage dress, if we feel like “chic country girls”, we match our tartan skirt to soft cashmere cardigans and thick wool socks, if we wish to look “sexy” we just need our favorite pair of jeans, heels –no plateau, please – and a silk blouse letting half-view our lace balconette bra. If otherwise we are just “confused”, we can always randomly mix something and it might also work, if we are lucky.

This is exactly why we love fashion: because it is frivolous, and what’s more frivolous than pastel colors matching your look?
