30 Gen It’s all because of Paper Dolls
If you were born around the 80s, Paper Dolls were probably one of your favorite game, literally paper dolls you could crop, with an endless series of clothes, today’s “outfits”, to be cropped as well; they were to be put on the dolls and then secured with paper flaps…so cool. A few months ago I downloaded a song just because it was titled Paper Dolls and had them on the cover… Luckily, the song was quite nice too…
Then, it was the time of the “Fashion Wheel”: with it, you could create drawings by mixing models, tops, skirts and shoes.
Then, Barbies arrived, with their clothes, ok, they didn’t wear Chanel, Moschino or Stella Jeans… I think I remember a Benetton Barbie… but anyway, the hours spent at “Standa” choosing and matching clothes and shoes to buy were priceless.
Finally, we grew up and put away Barbies to start playing with Ken, the real one, though… now with Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place and Dawson’s Creek.
When we had enough of Ken, we met Carrie, her friends and Sex and the City that, beyond making us craving Louboutin and Manolo Blank heels, made us believe you can end up working for Vogue by just starting a blog, so we tried, one never knows!
After that, we had Gossip Girl, the Devil wears Prada, and so on…
Thus, after this analysis of our childhood, you should not be surprised of the huge amount of pseudo bloggers-writers-journalists on your wall, reviewing clothes and shoes, as you should never ever disapprove your lady for finishing up the credit card just to buy an indispensable pair of shoes. Our destiny was written already since we started playing with paper dolls.
I was wearing:
– Prada pinafore dress
– Miu Miu décolleté
– Vintage coat
– Vintage bag
