08 Nov Insettofilia: that strange passion for insects…on clothes
The designers never cease to amaze us. Moreover, the glittering world of fashion is done just to attract and amaze and, therefore, everything is normal; so it’s normal to see on the catwalk clothes covered with various kinds of insects. Quiet, they are absolutely harmless: the insettofilia of the biggest names in fashion wanted to pay homage to these creatures, putting them on clothes and jewelry. If in the life of every day some insects frighten, on the clothes on the catwalk or on jewelry in the windows regain dignity and striking originality. An example? Alber Elbaz, the creative director of maison Lanvin, has decided to put insects, and especially cockroaches, on the clothes of the collection A/W 2013-14.
To stay on the subject of insects and jewelry, we want to point the collection known during filming for the fashion movie “The woman I love”, Incredible Creatures: originality, craftsmanship and many insects, enclosed in a line that will cause much pleasure to all those “are affected” by insettofilia and all those who want to be fashionable. The Italian designer Mario Salvucci, made his Incredible Creatures in 100% recycled Sterling Silver, refinished and bent by his able hands, in his study in Umbria; design and workmanship making unique each jewel, according to the designer “Each piece is original and fragile like Nature.”
So in the coming months the bugs will creep into our wardrobe: they are beetles, spiders or butterflies…it doesn’t matter, what matters is that they are valuable and they go to make unique clothes, jewelry, shoes and accessories.
