Readers of my blog posts know that I am obsessed with telling stories of what I wear, because I love stories; be they about big brands, cutting-edge products or old items that were sought out in markets. The tale about this bag \u2013 actually, of the queen of bags \u2013 is not, I believe, totally true: marketing teaches us that, in order to create a luxury product,you need to spin a tale that makes it unattainable. But this tale isn’t actually so fascinating, so it is best to talk about Herm\u00e8s<\/strong> tale.<\/p>\n

The Birkin bag<\/strong> was named after actress Jane Birkin<\/strong>. She herself has stated that the bag that was named after her is much more famous than she is. In 1984, the actress was on a flight from Paris to London with Dumas, the houses’s designer. Legend has it that pieces of paper and notes fell out of Jane’s Herm\u00e8s handbag. Dumas had obviously seen the entire thing happening, as he and Jane happened to be sitting near each-other. He took the handbag and gave it to Jane a few weeks later, with an additional pocket: the famous Birkin was officially born.<\/p>\n

Whether the tale of this handbag is fictional or not, the Birkin handbag is definitely a classy handbag that is timelessly classy, as is the actress who inspired it. I have decided to match it with a black outfit and my Louboutins. Have I ever told you the story of my red-soled shoes? NO? I must rectify this!<\/p>\n
