New Year’s Eve: my favourite event. Why is this? It’s for a series of reasons that shall be discussed below, in no particular order of importance.
First Reason: it is perhaps the only occasion in which you can come across as being inappropriate, unless you decide to show up in an outfit that is inspired by “The Great Gatsby” to celebrate at your friends’ house.
Second Reason: even if it’s cold, you can wear your shiny open sandals with stiletto heels. I do it all year round, but that’s just me.
Third Reason: you make love, and you do so well. I don’t think you would be too tired to do it. You know the popular expression, right? We are not superstitious, but you never know.
Fourth Reason: you toast and drink champagne, which is almost always a good idea. You celebrate and you kiss under the mistletoe, and these are also almost always good ideas.
Fifth Reason: it’s one of those evenings in which you don’t watch tv. In my opinion, tv could be switched off all year round.
Sixth Reason: it is the evening in which you create a list of resolutions for the coming year, there is always time to think about the ones that you didn’t carry out in the year that has just passed.
Seventh Reason: the best thing about resolutions is thinking about how regularly you will break them. We will do this, because we are human, and it’s mostly an amazing thing to be human.
Eighth Reason: it’s a good time for buying a new cocktail dress. No, a woman’s wardrobe can never contain too many cocktail dresses.
After having explained what the best things about this event are, let’s see what we can wear. As we were saying, it’s the evening in which sequins, glitter, feathers, gold, and over-the-top jewellery are allowed (as long as you don’t wear them all together). They are even appreciated.
You can wear pants, tank tops and blazers, as long as they are sensational. Choose them in a soft, elegant material, like silk or satin.
Wear a tuxedo with a sparkly top, a nice blouse, or even with polka dots. Combine this with your favourite stiletto shoes.
An excellent alternative is to wear a cocktail dress (but not a black sheath dress) with a particular cut or precious material. It has to emphasise your best features, on the basis of which, you can choose whether to have a neckline or show off your legs. Wear a nice cashmere coat over your dress, which is very fashionable this season. Otherwise, you could wear a faux-fur stole or even a nice jacket.
Even a precious midi skirt could be suitable. Long dresses are recommended for very formal evenings. As a handbag, choose a jewel clutch, and wear sparkly sandals. Go over the top with accessories, and, wherever you are, have fun all night long!
New Year’s Eve Traditions In Some Parts Of The World Are Fantastic :
Did you know that, in Japan, midnights is announced by 108 gongs? It is believed that 108 is the number of sins committed by the average man in a year. In India, it is compulsory to celebrate outside of your house? And that, in Brazil, you must wear white or golden outfits?
In hops of writing to you from Copacabana next year, dressed in white, I wish you a rich, splendid and chic New Year!
