Varsity Jacket.. where have we heard about this? Oh yes, that’s true: it is one of the current trends! To understand what we are talking about, let’s say that varsity jackets are windbreakers that remind you of the uniforms worn by university students at American Colleges; it was introduced to colleges for the first time in the distant year 1865, in the Harvard university baseball team.
From a stylistic point of view, varsity jackets are shaped like bomber jackets. Their sleeves are a different colour or material to the bust, they often have a coat of arms (which was originally the team’s coat of arms) , the collar is Korean-style and the hem is knitted.
How do you wear varsity jackets?
If you dive back into the 90’s, you can wear it with high-waisted jeans, or even slightly turned-up jeans and a nice over-sized t-shirt tucked inside your pants. Varsity jackets are absolutely essential with this kond of outfit. You can also wear it as a chic ensemble: with a black sheath dress or a very feminine dress, or with a calf-length dress and very high heels. You will definitely get the wow-factor by doing this. Last but not least, here is another combination: skinny jeans, a t shirt or blouse, or even a squared blouse, and a varsity jacket.
It is a very versatile item of clothing, and, yet again, it was “stolen” from the sports world. Without a doubt, this upholds its success. How did I wear it?
With a simple blue dress, with a soft silhouette, knee socks and moccasins.
I was wearing:
