New Balance was founded by William Riley in the distant 1906. William Riley was an English doctor who had moved to Boston to found the “New Balance Arch Company”. It all started with devising orthopaedic arch supports, which were aimed at people who needed to stand all day long for work purposes.
Riley allegedly came up with the name “New Balance” for his company while he was watching chickens in the garden, standing in perfect balance, on only three claws. Even his arch support, that has three points, was probably based on the idea that Riley borrowed from Mother Nature.
The comfort of New Balance Shoes, which are plain coloured and have a unique style and fantastic colours, are now deemed to be glamour icons. Maybe Riley would never have imagined this while observing his chickens.
They are versatile shoes that can be worn in the most creative of manners: with a boyish suit, with skinny or boyfriend jeans, with short little dresse, with flapper dresses or with items that make you think of the world of sport. At the end of the day, sport will be one of the most popular styles even this autumn/winter 2014 2015.
I like to picture them in unexpected contexts. With a blazer, a pencil skirt or a classic camel coat. Either way, you will not be trendy unless you have a pair of New Balances in your wardrobe. Run and put this right!
