The debuting catwalk for the House of Moschino that was deigned by Jeremy Scott was a success. Suits and accessories that were inspired by Mc Donald’s, the famous food chain, were modeled. These items of clothing were characterised by cuts and features that were reminiscent o f Chanel, which was an odd coupling. However, fashion does have to astonish, and a debuting fashion show must make a name for itself. Jeremy Scott has definitely accomplished this.
The runway was invaded by handbages that were shaped like milk cartons or crisp boxes, the accessories – that is, belts and threads of chains – were flashy and golden, Spongebob appeared on sweaters, shoes and fur coats. Pop corn, gummy sweets and chocolate packets were drawn on etchings of evening gowns. Finally, nutritional values were stamped on a bridal dress. A true ode to consumerism that is validated by another brilliant idea: the items that were featured in the catwalk are part of a capsule collection that was sold on the day after the fashion show.
Some extraordinary people participated in the event: Katy Perry (who arrived an hour late) and her friends commanded attention, as did the t shirt with which Jeremy Scott turned up at the event: “ I don’t speak italian, but I do speak Moschino”. What can we say…and well done, Jeremy !
